We are looking for indsutry input to help us develop optimal solutions to assist in reducing unwanted catches. If you are interested please get in touch using our contact details at the bottom of this page!

Taking Notes

Do you have a spare 15 minutes?

We are keen to explore how those with experience of working on fishing vessels in Ireland recall details about the wanted and unwanted components of their catches. This work is intended to shed light on how the varying experiences of people who have worked in different capacities on industry vessels may influence these recollections and how this may ultimately influence decision making in the fishing industry. This information will then be used to help in the development of technologies that could help in reducing unwanted catches.

If you have experience of working on commercial fishing boats and have 15 minutes to spare please considering completing a short questionnaire to help with this research.

Friendly Conversation

Share your thoughts

At this early stage of the project, we are really keen to talk to anyone who is willing to share their experiences and opinions on how effective different fishing tactics are at avoiding unwanted catches, as well as how sharing information on the location of unwanted catches may potentially help in further avoiding them.

Industry involvement in the IFISH project is key to help co-design information sharing tools and ensure they are developed to assist in avoiding problematic catches, whatever they may be locally or within particular fisheries. If you would be happy to have a chat and share some of your thoughts on the project please get in touch using the contact information below.

Using a Touch Phone

Trial our technology

As we progress with the development of the IFISH app we will be looking to find fishers who would be interested in testing out this new information sharing app. If you would be interested in helping to develop this platform and test it out please get in contact using the contact information at the bottom of this page.

"Industry input is really important to help shape this research so that we can ensure that we are addressing industry needs and concerns and to ensure any output from this work is useful and relevant,"
